Who we are

Medical Campus Outreach (MCO) is a discipleship-based ministry focusing on sharing the good news of Jesus to students at the Medical College of Georgia, establishing new believers in the faith, and equipping believers to bring the gospel to the lost world.

History

MCO began in 1985 when Bill Pearson arrived at the Medical College of Georgia.  Bill left MCG to devote himself to full-time student ministry at MCG.  Since 1985, MCO has expanded to seven medical campuses.  In 2010, MCO Augusta sent out a team to start the first international MCO in Cusco, Peru.

Summer Mission Trips

Summer Medical Institute (SMI) began in 1993 in Philadelphia providing vaccinations to under-served areas.  In 1998, MCO transitioned SMI to international locations.  MCO has since expanded to three SMI trips (Allied Health/Dental/Medical) each year as well as a fourth-year medical elective in in conjunction with Mission to the World and the Medical College of Georgia.

MCO Cusco

In February 2006, members of the Medical Campus Outreach (MCO) community in Augusta, Georgia, gathered to discuss taking MCO to an international healthcare campus.  In April 2009, through the unity of the team and their counsel, Cusco, Peru,  emerged as God’s strategic location and MCO Cusco was born.  The team departed for for Costa Rica in August 2010  for language school.  The team hopes to be in Cusco by the summer of 2011.
