Who we are

// Vision //

Medical Campus Outreach exists to glorify God by training a new generation of health-care providers to bring the healing of the gospel of Jesus Christ to the world.

// Mission //

To make disciples of Jesus on the health care campus.

// Strategy //

Deploy missional teams to carry out this calling under the authority of a local church. In Augusta, we engage students in Bible studies, personal discipleship programs, leadership training, and special events to help them grow in faith.

// Partnership and Administration //

MCO is an ecumenical, Christian ministry. Many chapters exist beneath the authority and supervision of a local church, and First Presbyterian Church of Augusta serves this role for MCO Augusta.

// SMI //

Summer Medical Institute (SMI) began in 1992 in Philadelphia providing vaccinations to under-served areas. In 1998, MCO transitioned SMI to international locations. MCO has since expanded to three SMI trips (Allied Health/Dental/Medical) each year as well as a fourth-year medical elective in in conjunction with Mission to the World and the Medical College of Georgia.

// history //

MCO began in 1985 when Bill Pearson arrived at the Medical College of Georgia. Bill left MCG to devote himself to full-time student ministry. Since 1985, MCO has expanded to seven medical campuses. In 2010, MCO Augusta sent out a team to start the first international MCO in Cusco, Peru.
